This course aims to analyze social and political movements as expressions of conflict, transformation, and participation in contemporary societies. Drawing on classical and contemporary theoretical frameworks, the course explores dynamics of mobilization, organizational strategies, repertoires of collective action, and interactions with political and institutional power.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

- Understand the main theories of social and political movements.

- Analyze the social, cultural, and economic factors that drive the emergence of collective movements.

- Identify different types of movements (reformist, revolutionary, identity-based, global) and their main features.

- Understand the connections between collective action, ideology, and processes of political and institutional change.

- Evaluate the impact of social movements on public policy and international agendas.

- Develop analytical skills for the comparative study of social movements in diverse historical and geographical contexts.
