The course program intends to provide the theoretical knowledge and tools useful for understanding and interpreting the complex communication dynamics of contemporary society.

Programma

The program is divided into two parts: the first relates to the fundamental themes and concepts of the sociology of communication; the second concerns the main theories of mass communication, paying particular attention to the role and social effects of the new media.

Specifically, the following topics will be examined:

- society and mass communication

- main theoretical perspectives

- social effects of new media

- scenarios of contemporary communication

The exam will be oral, aimed at evaluating the preparation of the student. The student’s ability to establish links between the different themes will be evaluated, as well as the propensity of critical reflection on the phenomena being studied
