This course focuses on the contemporary history of international relations in East Asia. Particular attention will be devoted to the positions occupied by Japan and China during the Cold War years, as well as to their interactions both with the other regional actors, the two Superpowers and Europe. The analysis of the factors generated by the bipolar order will facilitate the identification of continuity and discontinuity lines in the broader context of globalization.

In case of an extension of the health emergency caused by COVID-19, all the provisions that regulate the methods of carrying out the teaching activities and student assessment will be implemented. The evaluation will be a continuous process for the students who attend the course and will be divided into different moments (a mid-term test, a laboratory in which the students are directly involved, a final test) whose results will form an aggregate data for the final outcome.
